Nolly’s tips on programming realistic drums
One of the most important parts of programming drums that sound realistic and natural is getting the velocities right– specifically, using softer hits in a way that mimics how a human drummer plays.
Humans don’t hit every drum at 100% every time, so your programmed drums shouldn’t be at 127 velocity every time either.
In this video, Nolly walks you through his approach for fine-tuning the velocities of programmed drums using the Matt Halpern Signature Kit from Getgood Drums.
